Law enforcement and military helicopter pilot with international (combat) and domestic experience.
Horse trainer by trade specializing in ‘starting colts’. 10 years of experience riding unbroke horses led me to believe I should be able to ‘stick’ saddle bronc or bareback horses in the rodeo. A couple roughstock schools, amateur entries, and broken bones led me to my roping aspirations, which were much more productive and less painful than my roughstock aspirations. Entered the CPS rodeo a few years ago in the team roping and wild horse race…and somehow(coercion, shame, public mocking, etc) led me back into the sadllebronc chutes. A good horse, good coach, lucky ride and sheer fear of letting go, led me to a 2016 saddle bronc buckle and once again the misconception that “I can still do this”.
As much as I would like to tell you that is the result of my roping prowess, and ability to build a hot loop and catch any critter within a half mile…the realityis that it was the result of a rough night in Palm Springs involving numerous margaritas, a country club dance floor and a lounge singer that looked like Whitney Houston.
